Pros and Cons of DVD Vending Machines

The vending machine industry is changing rapidly to meet the needs of today's technologically minded consumer. Nowhere is this more evident than in Japan. In Japan, you can find vending machines that dispense everything from groceries to electronics. One innovation that's made it's way from this Asian nation to the United States is the DVD vending machine. DVD vending machines are an automated way for consumers to purchase DVDs. Some of these vending machines sell both DVDs and audio CDs as well.
These new machines are set up so that customers can see all the DVDs offered for sale by pushing a button and browsing through the selection. Like a normal vending machine, money is inserted into the machine and the product is automatically dispensed. Some of the newest DVD dispensing machines take not only cash, but credit cards as well. Most of these machines will stock approximately 30 different titles for customers to choose from.
When it comes to stocking your DVD machine, make sure you choose titles that are considered hot sellers. This might include an assortment of popular new releases in a variety of genres. You might have a few dramas, a few comedies, a few horror films, some romantic movies, and some children's selections in your machine. The more popular the movies you choose are, the more business you're going to get. Another important consideration is to keep your prices competitive. You don't want to charge too much for your DVDs, but you want to make a profit. Do some research to find out what other DVD sellers are charging. You want to charge enough to afford all your expenses while making some kind of profit, but not so much that potential customers are put off.
Choosing the location for your DVD vending machine is important for your success. You will want to select a location that has a lot of foot traffic. This may include places like large shopping malls, outdoor shopping centers, busy Laundromats, and especially places like university dorm areas and luxury hotels that provide DVD players in the rooms. While the DVD machine craze hasn't quite caught fire yet, there are a few innovators that are making profit in this way. Whether or not the DVD vending business is right for you depends on many factors, including your level of investment and the locations available to you.
